PM Narendra Modi tweets Smriti Irani’s Fiery Speech at Lok Sabha Says “Satyamev Jayate”
In an aggressive and emotional Speech in Parliament today, HRD Minister Smriti Irani hit out at the Congress and other oppositions over targeting her on the suicide of Hyderabad research student Rohit Vemula last month.
My name is Smriti Irani. I challenge you to ask me my caste,” the Education Minister said in an emotional speech, refusing an allegation that was prosecuted because he was a dalit.
“No one can raise a finger against me on this issue. I am taking it personally,” she added.
She gave a speech of about 50-min that shows her she was furious, sarcastic and chocked up in parts, She also added that had been targeted by the Congress because of her work in Amethi which is Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandi’s constituency.
Rohit Vemula, a 26-year-old Research scholar, was found hanging at the Hyderabad Central University last month, days after he was banned from hostel and other areas on campus for allegedly attacking the BJP wing student group ABVP.

HRD Minister also said: “Have you ever seen Rahul Gandhi to one spot twice? Never, But in this, he saw political opportunity,”
“Our children are not vote-banks,” she thundered”.
The Congress and other oppositions made allegations that Rohit was punished by the university because of pressure from Smriti Irani and another minister, Bandaru Dattareya who had asked for action against those who had attacked the ABVP worker.
However, Education Minister had disproved that she had forced the Hyderabad University to take action against Rohit Vemula after letter from Bandaru.
“I did my job and I will not appolise. Communications received from MPs should be attended to promptly,” she said, alleging that she had received similar letters from opposition members too.
The minister alleged that Rohit was used for politics by parties like the Congress and the ruling TRS of Telangana. Action was taken against the student by “those who were appointed by the UPA,” she said.
Prime Minister Narenda Modi praised her for her speech on Twiiter by tweeting ‘Satyamev Jayate’on Twitter that ‘Do hear this speech by @SmritiIrani’ with youtube video link.
