Power Rangers trailer: A promising revisit to our favourite childhood show

Whenever Hollywood plans to puts its hands on some of our nostalgic stuff, we do get kinda wary about how they are going to reinvent the same. Some of them have worked like last year’s The Jungle Book,

but most of them have been disappointing like the Transformers franchise or the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies. So when they were going to remake our fave superhero TV show, Power Rangers, next, don’t blame us for being a little sceptical. However going by the first trailer, its looks like they do have done a better job at remaking Power Rangers into an enjoyable cinematic treat. That is, until it all becomes too reliant on CGI in the end…

Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott (who is half Indian, half British), RJ Cyler, Becky G and Ludi Lin play the new versions of the Power Rangers. They are outcasts in their college, and during a trekking trip, they discover a cavern in which they find their individual superpowers. Fans of Breaking Bad will be pleased to know that Bryan Cranston will be playing  Zordon, who will be a mentor to these Power Rangers after they discover their powers, though mostly its his voice that we hear in the trailer. He trains them to control these new found powers with the help of the little android Alpha 5 (voiced by funnyman Bill Hader). There is also the main nemesis Rita Repulsa, played with delicious ferocity by Elizabeth Banks, who used to be really strong Power Ranger before. Power Rangers is directed by Dean Israelite.
